Richard Koechli & Blue Roots Company

Richard Koechli has worked for 33 years as a professional guitarist, singer/songwriter and author. On his recent albums the roots musician pays respectful tribute to his love of the roots of blues & folk — work for which he received the renowned SWISS BLUES AWARD in 2013. His film score for «Der Goalie bin ig» (co-produced with Peter Von Siebenthal) won the SWISS FILM PRIZE for Best Film Music in 2014; in 2016 he was nominated for the PRIX WALO in the jazz/blues category, and in 2022 his album «Holy Blues» won the PRIX PLUS (Swiss art prize of the spiritual cultural scene). Koechli's search for traces is also a literary one: with several specialist books («Masters of Blues Guitar» won the GERMAN MUSIC EDITION PRIZE in 2011), with the novel and music audiobook «Dem Blues auf den Fersen», and with the world's first biography of blues pioneer Tampa Red. In 2018 came his album «Parcours» with 16 new songs, in 2020 his internationally successful homage to J.J. Cale (book & CD «The Real Chill, Remembering J.J. Cale»), at the end of 2021 his award-winning gospel album «Holy Blues» (book & CD) and in May 2023 his latest work «Transcendental Blues» (book & CD).

In intimate interplay with his first-class fellow musicians, Richard Koechli celebrates on stage the magic of fleeting moments — driven by passion, virtuoso composure and spiritual devotion.
